11 + tutoring

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Our one-to-one 11+ sessions will help to prepare students for the 11+ exam taken at the start of Year 6. The exam has 4 papers: Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning.

Time will be spent familiarising students with all 4 papers and the types of questions they may come across. However, focus will primarily be given to the reasoning papers as this is unlike anything the students would have attempted before. It is important the students feel confident when tackling these unfamiliar types of question. Any gaps within the English and Maths papers will also be identified and filled to ensure the students have the best possible chance of securing a high mark in the exam and ultimately entry to their preferred choice of Secondary School.

We will always offer you an FREE initial assessment session where one of our tutors will discuss the 11+ with both the parents and the child. We will always be 100% honest. If we do not feel the student will be able to reach the required standard to have a good chance of passing the exam then we will discuss this with you in a sensitive manner. We always suggest speaking to your child’s class teacher about the decision to sit the 11+ exam as they have the most knowledge about your child and are best placed to offer further advice.

• You need to be currently in Year 4 or Year 5
• You need to be currently working at a high level, beyond that normally expected for your age

The requirements are given as guidance in terms of being comfortable in accessing the course and the pace of the sessions.
